RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS

To reserve a spot on a Drawn to the Camino (DTTC) walk, please follow the "reserve a spot" button from the site and fill out the reservation request form that opens in a new window. Upon review, we will send you a secure online payment form. Each participant should fill out a Reservation Request Form, even if the payment will be made by one person. To reserve your space, a 15% non-refundable deposit is required. Payments should be made via bank transfer, credit card, or Apple Pay. Payments made via credit card will incur a 3% surcharge.

For all advertised Drawn to the Camino itineraries and dates, a trip-specific non-refundable deposit amount per person plus submission of our online registration form, medical questionnaire, and waiver of liability is required to complete your booking. Note that if the registration form, medical questionnaire, and waiver of liability are not completed within a week of paying the trip deposit and/or if the medical insurance information is not uploaded to our travel site, your place on the trip may be forfeited.

The final balance payment is due 90 days before the trip start date. If your booking is made within 90 days of the trip start date, then the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

Deposits become credits if you cancel your spot (in writing) more than 90 days before the trip starts. Deposits and all additional payments made within 90 days of the trip departure date are non-refundable and non-transferable.

PRICING

Trip prices include all applicable taxes and are based on shared occupancy.

We will not increase the price of your trip after you have paid in full. We reserve the right to impose surcharges up to 90 days before departure due to unfavorable changes in exchange rates, increases in transportation costs, increases in local operator costs, taxes, or if government action should require us to do so. If any surcharge results in an increase of more than 7% of the trip price you may cancel the booking within 14 days of notification of the surcharge and obtain a full refund.

If paying with any currency other than US dollar, DTTC is not responsible for any fees incurred due to currency exchange or fees charged by your credit card/bank for processing funds in any currency
.

Each participant will receive a copy of Drawn to the Camino's Waiver of Liability Form before commencing a trip. Signing this waiver is a condition of participation. By signing our Waiver Form, you are aware of the risks associated with adventure travel and remote adventure trips, and that you are in physical and mentally sound condition to participate on a walking travel adventure trip.

CONFIRMATION

Once we have received your registration form and deposit, we will send you an email with an invoice of payments received and your remaining balance, a copy of our Assumption of Risk / Liability Waiver Form, a link to your Medical Questionnaire, and a list of our guidelines. These first 2 items must be returned 1 week from placing your deposit or the reservation will be treated as a cancellation. In addition, we will send you a Confirmation Packet with information regarding suggestions on preparation, dates for our virtual meetings, a packing and reading list, and other tips to get you excited and prepared for our journey.

FINAL PAYMENT

Final payment is due 90 days prior to departure. Whilst prices could be subject to change without notice, upon final payment, all trip fares are fixed and not subject to change. For trips departing in less than 90 days, full and immediate payment is required. For payments by credit card, a transaction fee will apply.

FINAL REGISTRATION

Drawn to the Camino reserves the right to change, modify, or cancel a tour prior to departure for any reason, including lack of participants ( minimum: 8 ) or acts of nature and/or circumstances beyond our control. In this case, any payments received will be refunded in full, and this will constitute a full settlement. Drawn to the Camino is not responsible for any additional expenses due to a canceled tour, such as the purchase of non-refundable airline tickets.

Drawn to the Camino participants are responsible for ensuring possession of all necessary travel documentation, including passport (valid until 6 months after the expected return date), or visas. Participants are also responsible for complying with all customs, rules, and procedures of the trip suppliers, and failure to comply with all trip supplier customs, rules, and procedures may result in the Client being refused continued participation in the trip. No credit or refund will be provided to the Client in such circumstances.

Lastly, Drawn to the Camino reserves the right to accept, refuse, or decline any member’s participation at any time for any reason. In such a case, Drawn to the Camino’s liability is limited to the actual cost of the unused services.

CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19

No refund will be provided to Client who cannot complete the trip due to COVID-19, and any costs incurred by Client due to COVID-19, including transportation, accommodation, meals, etc. will be the responsibility of Client. COVID-19 extensive policies are outlined here. Detailed COVID trip protocols will be discussed and reiterated in pre-trip briefings and guidelines.

We want you to have an incredible adventure and appreciate your support in creating an inclusive and healthy group environment.

CANCELLATION OF A TRIP BY DRAWN TO THE CAMINO

Our trips are confirmed to depart when they have a minimum group size booked. DTTC reserves the right to cancel any trip for any reason, but will rarely cancel a tour less than 90 days before departure except for Force Majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstances outside DTTC’s control.

When a tour is canceled by DTTC before the agreed date of departure for any reason other than Force Majeure or the fault of the Client, the Client can either:

  • Take a substitute tour of equivalent or higher price if DTTC is able and willing to offer such a substitute and pay any difference in price between the price of the tour originally purchased and that of the superior substitute tour; or

  • Take a substitute tour of lower price if DTTC is able and willing to offer one and to recover from DTTC the difference in price between the tour originally purchased and that of the substitute tour; or

  • Receive a full refund of all monies paid under the contract as soon as possible.

DTTC is not responsible for any incidental expenses or consequential losses that the Client may have incurred as a result of the booking, such as visas, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or rail, non-refundable car parking or other fees, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment, etc.

If the Client is offered a refund but requests an alternative tour of a higher value than that originally booked, then the Client must pay the difference in price.

Where, after departure, a significant element of the trip contracted for cannot be provided, DTTC will make suitable alternative arrangements for the continuation of the trip.

CANCELLATION BY FORCE MAJEURE

In circumstances where a cancelation is necessary due to any conditions or event beyond our control including, but not limited to, natural events, pandemics, border restrictions, terrorism, or political instability, we will endeavor to transfer your booking to an alternative departure or trip, or we will offer a trip credit to use towards the balance of any new booking.

All credits and refunds resulting from cancelation for any reason will be less any non-refundable expenses incurred by us. If your booking is changed or transferred for any reason, the booking Terms and Conditions in effect on the date your new booking is made will apply. DTTC is not responsible for any additional expenses you may incur as a result of your booking being canceled or changed, including, but not limited to, visas, vaccinations, medical expenses, clothing, equipment, testing, quarantine, travel insurance excess, or flights.

CHANGING OF DATES

If we are notified of a change to your scheduled tour date 6 months prior, you can apply your tour deposit to another departure date without penalty. This change can be up to 1 calendar year in advance and is subject to availability. Otherwise, the above Cancellation Fees will be applied.

Custom-created journeys: We work really hard to ensure your trip is as you require and created with specific dates and prices in mind for our clients. Modifications will incur a 15% surcharge.

INSURANCE

For many of you, this is a trip of a lifetime, an investment of not only time and energy but also money. To protect your investments and yourselves, it is always wise to secure the appropriate insurance to cover you from the unexpected. In all of your preparations, we always have to be prepared for the unexpected—whether it is a global pandemic, a twisted ankle, a change in plans, etc. For this reason, Drawn to the Camino outlines the following:

Medical Travel Insurance: Drawn to the Camino requires all participants to purchase medical travel insurance, with a minimum of $ 200,000.00 USD, evacuation and repatriation coverage, including personal injury and all forms of medical expense. Some trips may have higher minimum medical coverage requirements, which are set out on the DTTC website trip page. Proof of insurance coverage for DTTC is due 1 week before travel. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of participation and forfeiture of any payments and deposits. For a list of recommended insurers, please see this form: Outdoor Adventure Insurances.

Travel and Personal Insurance: Drawn to the Camino strongly recommends that you get comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Travel insurance minimizes your risk exposure for the before and for the duration of your travel—not just whether your plane leaves on time or whether your luggage gets lost but if you need to cancel. The best insurance will cover some or all of the costs associated with COVID-19, theft, lost or delayed luggage, and accidents and emergencies (including emergency extraction and repatriation) when you are traveling. Do note that Travel Protection Plans, including cancellation for any reason, coverage must be purchased in close conjunction with your travel purchase, so do not let this pass.

With the many experiences you will have over the course of the purchased guided walk, it is essential that you secure travel insurance for your trip.

TRAVELING SAFELY AND RESPONSIBLY

Traveling during these complex times requires a lot more care. At Drawn to the Camino’s core is a sustainable, ecological, and locally responsible form of travel. We work hard to build strong, reliable relationships with our local partners, and, most importantly, we believe that walking and engaging with Nature and local culture in a one-to-one relationship is the most responsible way to engage with the world during these changing and critical times.

Traveling safely and responsibly also means acknowledging that the destination(s) to which you are traveling may have living standards, practices, and conditions with respect to the provision of utilities, services, and accommodations that are different from those enjoyed at home. We encourage all Drawn to the Camino participants to be open to those differences.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Health
It is the participant’s responsibility to check with the country’s Consulate and your own country’s official travel website for travel advice and advisories. US-based travelers can find current information here.

Our tours are active tours and require that you are in good health and good physical condition. You will be walking for several hours each day for several days, so you should discuss with your doctor to see if the tour you have chosen is appropriate for you.

Travelers with Special Medical Conditions or Disabilities: Our walking tours are likely to be unsuitable for those who use a wheelchair or have a lack of mobility. However, we will be delighted to discuss the feasibility of your participation in any of our tours. Prior to booking, you must advise us in writing of any physical, emotional, or mental condition which may require special assistance/ equipment or professional attention during the tour, so that we can assist you in considering the suitability of the arrangements and/or in making the booking. If you fail to disclose any such conditions and we find out on our own, we may refuse to allow you to participate in the tour, and you will not be entitled to a refund. If you have a special condition or disability, you must bring and be responsible for all necessary items related to your condition, including bringing a paying capable companion traveler willing to assist you. If any such condition arises after the trip is booked, you must advise us in writing immediately. Failure to advise us shall release us from any liability related to such condition.

Participants agree to adhere to DTTC’s health and safety measures outlined in their documents and in orientation. Participants agree to honestly asses their physical and mental fitness to participate, having read and understood the Fitness Level Explained document and seeking further clarification here and with their medical professional. Participants confirm that they have fully disclosed any applicable pre-existing medical conditions and/or physical or mental condition, disability, or injury. that may affect their ability to safely take part in their trip in the Medical Questionnaire. By completing a deposit, clients acknowledge that they meet requirements and will notify DTTC should anything change prior to departure.

Drawn to the Camino may cancel a participant's trip at any time or exclude from any activity if it becomes apparent to the Company, any of its guides, or any contractor responsible for providing any aspects of a trip or activity, at any time prior to or during the trip or activity, that they are likely to be unable to complete the trip or activity without undue risk to the health of themselves or others, at the complete discretion of the Company. There will be no refunds for activities, travel, or any itinerary items missed for this reason.

Again, Drawn to the Camino recommends one consult with a physician before participating and to check with their doctor about their current health and/or vaccine status and any additional requirements for their destination, such as securing all prescriptions for the duration of our itinerary prior to travel.

Safety and Responsibility of Conduct

Drawn to the Camino organizes trips in remote natural environments, rural districts, and metropolitan regions of Spain. Unpredictable weather conditions can increase risk. There can be unexpected, dangerous encounters with vehicles, bicycles, and wildlife. It is essential that everyone obey the rules and regulations imposed by DTTC and follow instructions. Clients are responsible for their own conduct on and off the path and assume responsibility for their own negligence or reckless conduct. They understand that DTTC advises participants to purchase adequate trip insurance. The decisions of DTTC leaders or other representatives will be final on all matters likely to affect the safety and well-being of the group.

Please be aware that we reserve the right to prohibit any traveler from continuing on a trip, or canceling without refund if it’s determined that the traveler’s actions do not adhere to the instructions of the group leader or pose a threat to the safety of others, wildlife, or themselves. If the traveler’s actions and/or behaviors are disrupting the enjoyment of the trip for others, they will also be asked to leave without entitlement to a refund.

Consent to First Aid

Should the need arise for our guide(s) to administer first aid to a participant, they fully release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company from any and all actions, and any and all claims, for damages whatsoever which may hereafter arise as a result of any first aid treatment in response to a set of signs or symptoms and/or the administration of any medication in response to a medical, implied consent or emergency situation that involves myself.

Drugs and Alcohol

Drawn to the Camino is committed to putting your safety and well-being at the forefront. For this reason, smoking is not permitted near DTTC group participants, during our activities, or near the entrances of our accommodations. Smoking is otherwise permitted following local laws and regulations.

We encourage the responsible use of alcohol when it is permitted. Factors such as location, accommodation types, local outfitter policies, activities, and cultural traditions will determine when it is acceptable. For example: alcohol is tolerated when we visit local restaurants and licensed establishments. If your guide thinks that you are not in the appropriate condition to undertake an activity due to intoxication or whose conduct detracts from DTTC's ability to conduct business with local providers, including but not limited to albergues, for any reason, they have the right to decline a client’s participation and may result in removal. The use of illegal substances is not permitted, and any use of these will result in the termination of your trip at the client's own expense, without a refund.

COVID-19, Vaccination, Testing, and Protocol

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required by the destination in which the trip is taking place to participate in any trip. COVID-19 testing may also be required by destination countries and/or the trip supplier in order to ensure the safety of the group, and the cost of any testing is the responsibility of the Client. Drawn to the Camino strongly suggests that all participants be up to date on all boosters and have secured their latest booster no sooner than 2 weeks before travel. Having a strong immune response will ensure quick resolution of symptoms should they occur on your journey.

Covid-19 Protocol:

The Client will immediately advise DTTC if Client has any symptoms of COVID-19 within 2 weeks of the start of a trip, and Client may be required to provide a negative test or may not be permitted to participate in the trip. If symptoms occur during the trip, the Client will advise the guide(s) and follow all instructions given to them by the guide(s), including: keeping 2 meters from guides and others on the trip; wearing a mask; and strict isolation until they present a negative test or when symptoms significantly improve.

Clients with a positive COVID-19 test result may be required to refrain from further group activities and follow local health protocols, based on conversations with your guides, your group, and local partners and suppliers. The trip will continue as planned for those who test negative, potentially with modifications (i.e. masking, isolation, and social distancing). Reintroduction of those who test positive will be managed on a case-by-case basis and at the sole discretion of group leaders. Anyone failing to adhere to the recommendation of group leaders will be removed from the program.

Any costs associated with testing, isolation, cancellations, delays or medical needs are solely the responsibility of the participant. We strongly recommend all travelers purchase COVID, cancelation, and interruption travel insurance coverage, where possible.

If a Client has any symptoms or is diagnosed with COVID-19 anytime during the 3 days after the completion of the trip, the Client will email DTTC: info@drawntothecamino.com so that we can notify others on the trip.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING

Recording the experience of this journey is an important part of Drawn to the Camino's work, giving future participants a sense of the individual and group experience. Care and attention is made to move respectfully and responsibly, treating these documents as parts of a growing archive of trust. DTTC reserves the right to take photographs and/or videos of participants during the trip. Participants agree that the Company may use any such photographs and/or videos for business purposes without payment or other consideration unless consent is withdrawn in writing.
